A King and Kingdom Unending
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
Luke 1: 31-33
One of the many things I love about God’s Word, is that there are so many truths and revelations He has for us in one sentence. We have already taken a look at Luke 1: 31-33, but there is a promise and a revelation of God’s faithfulness on display that demands a response.
Luke is telling Mary, and us, that the son Mary will be having will be King! Not just any king, He is the long-awaited King. The king that is going to change the dynamics of natural and the spiritual. There would be a difference felt, seen, and made in the natural through Jesus’ life, death, resurrection, and ascension. There would also be a shift in the spiritual as well. King Jesus would be opening the veil for all who seek the Father.
King Jesus will not be shaken, nor will His throne be overturned by anyone. Neither will those who are His. Therefore, all of His followers, are now protected in a never-ending Kingdom with promises, protection, and identity galore. What a promise Mary was receiving! What a promise we get to walk in!
The Father is faithful. He didn’t send another judge, who would simply lead the people in the flesh. He didn’t send just any old prophet, although the prophets were indeed inspired and a big part of God’s redemptive heart and plan. God send His only Son. King Jesus is the Son of the Most High God. He is the King who will reign, without losing His throne to the desires of the flesh, like David did. He is the King who will rule not with manipulative purposes, but with a pure heart set before God operating in obedience to the Father. He is the chosen One! Jacob manipulated to get the birthright and blessing, Jesus was chosen so that we all could partake of both through Him!
Look to His faithfulness today. You serve a King whose Kingdom does not end. His kingdom is every expanding and ever protected. His Kingdom is full of life and life abundantly. Take hold of this promise today. You serve a King, who has won the war for your soul. You will not want. He will make you lie down in green pastures. He has indeed restored your soul! We are so blessed to have such a faithful Father. Those who believe in the name of Jesus are now sons and daughters of God. Walk favorably and confidently in your new kingdom identity.
