Provision for the Promise

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

Luke 1: 31-35

Yesterday we saw that God’s favor was nothing to fear, but rather a blessing to walk in. Today we are going to see how God is able to provide the promise, as well as give the provision. God had promised the coming Messiah hundreds of years before the angel came to visit Mary and Zechariah, in their individual angelic encounters. God was now allowing the promise to come at the right time.

God told Mary that she would conceive a Child, and this child would be Jesus. Not just Jesus, King Jesus, He would be given the throne of David and rule the house of Jacob forever, and that the kingdom her baby would reign in would have no end! That’s quite the promise. That type of promise would require much provision. Thankfully, our Father is faithful. He provided the Messiah we needed through vessels He could use.

God promised Mary that His power and Spirit would take control of this situation. Her virgin nature did not disqualify her for this task, God saw she was able to be used for His glory, therefore, He chose her in sovereignty to birth the Messiah into this world. It’s important to take note that God would be taking over. God was going to give the baby to Mary, and that God was going to be the power in this situation. In doing this, God would deliver the perfect and spotless lamb, Jesus, to atone our sins.

Perhaps you are walking in a situation that seems impossible. While you aren’t birthing the Savior of the world, you are trying to walk in obedience to Him. I want to encourage you that everything that God calls you to do, He will be faithful to provide for the promise. He is not a Father who makes promises and breaks them. He sticks to His word, and follows through on His promises. There is provision available for you, rest in His power and Spirit. Jesus is here, He has made a way. Thank you, Father!
